The Tri-Cities Steel Band Association (TCSBA) is a non-profit organization based in West Richland, Washington. TCSBA endeavors to promote and educate youth in the performance of music influenced from Caribbean origins (reggae, soca, ska, and calypso music). The organization currently sponsors two performance bands (OK2Botay and Bram Bratá). conducts instructional classes year round including summer camps. The association began as an idea of a few parents of Kid Calypso (a steel band at Tapteal Elementary School) players in the spring of 1996 when the school district was resistant to the idea of opening a steel band program at the middle and high school levels. Seeing that their children would soon have no opportunity for playing as they moved o&amp;shy;n from elementary school this handful of persistent parents decided to figure a way to sponsor a community-based band and here is where we are today. Be sure to check out the What&amp;#39;s Happening section for upcoming gigs and events! TCSBA is proud to announce the release of a new CD! Stick it to the Pan featuring performances from both OK2Botay and Bram Bratá. Listen to samples from our CDs on the TCSBA CDs page </description>
