2009 Summer Classes

DSC_0098We’ve finished up another year of summer steel drum and marimba classes .  Led by our fantastic Directors Ben Leggett and Walt Hampton, along with helpful student volunteers, our classes build kids’ musical skills in a positive, fun, encouraging environment.

We offer two two-week sessions of steel drum instruction and one two-week session of marimba instruction.  Each class session ends with a public performance for parents, grandparents, friends and passers-by.  Check our our Classes page for more information about our classes.

If you missed the summer classes, we offer after school classes in the autumn and winter.  Check back for details as summer winds down.

Marimba CD coming soon!

Our first marimba CD will be released in just a few weeks.  A joint effort between our ‘Bahuru marimba band and the Rugare marimba band from Sunset View Elementary, this CD features a great mix of traditional Zimbabwean marimba and original compositions.  Check out our CDs page for information on ordering your copy.

July 4 Performances at Spokane Riverfront

Bram Bratá, OK2Botay and ‘Bahuru will be performing at the Spokane Fourth of July celebration.   We will be playing near the fountain at the Spokane Riverfront Park between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

This will be our first summer concert with all three bands.  That means hours of fresh and varied music for your enjoyment.  Join us for this great event, enjoy all of the great fun and stay for Spokane’s spectacular fireworks show.
